About our farm:
Our farm is located in Ashland OH. We've been in the honey business for
15 years now. The first couple of
years, we were selling honey to folks close to us. As more and more folks
contacted us for honey, we decided that we needed a webpage to make it easier
for these folks to simply order online from us. I design and maintain our
webpage and Glenn maintains the beehives.
We have outgrown the amount of honey we can produce and now also buy honey and
bee products from beekeepers in OH, MI, PA, and IN. We buy from the same
beekeepers that we've known for years. They practice beekeeping as we do
and maintain hives that produce great tasting honey. If you have any
questions concerning our bee products and their sources, please
email us
or phone us before purchasing.
We do not have a physical store and all of our business is conducted online.
This allows us to maintain our beehives to produce honey and bee products and
also keep up with orders. Glenn is typically out checking on the hives,
catching bee swarms and extracting honey. We extract honey throughout the
year to get the various types of honey. I have recently retired which
allows Glenn a bit more time with the hives and keeping up with the honey
production which is very labor intensive.
About Us: Glenn started beekeeping full time when our daughter was
born as we wanted one of us to be around for her during the day. Glenn has a
doctorate in Organic Chemistry and I have a B.S. in Biology so we both love
being around bees.
The beekeeping business is hard heavy work. However, watching bees at work
is extraordinary and quite relaxing. Watching our bees in action on a warm sunny day
while walking around our property trying to determine what they are drawn to is
fun to do. Each year the taste of our honey varieties differs depending
on what plants are producing the best pollen and nectar sources that year.
We pride ourselves on taking care of our customers as we hear from many folks who are
surprised at how quickly we respond to their emails. We also get
frustrated by trying to contact someone about ordering something and waiting
days to hear back from them.
Our goal is to respond to your emails within the day. Check your spam
folders! Sometimes on nice sunny days, we'll be out taking supers off the hives and
"playing" with the bees.))) Or now and then someone will call
with a bee swarm and off one of us must go - sort of like "beeing" a fireman.
If you need to contact us, the quickest way is by
email as we are not always in during the day to answer phone
calls. When we do come in sometimes late at night, it's easier to email
folks as it's too late to call.
You can
order online
with a credit card
or by sending us a
check or money order.
To send us a check or money order, simply add your items to the shopping cart.
Continue through the shopping cart by entering your name, etc. - then on the 3rd
page of the shopping cart on the bottom right, you'll need to select your
"payment method". Select "offline" here and then continue. The last
page allows you to print out the order form and mail it to us along with your
payment.
We THANK YOU for your business and most of all the bees say THANKS as they do
most of the work:) We just bottle their hard work into jars. At the
end of each season, we leave 2 Supers on each hive. These are the white
hive bodies you see on beehives. Most beekeepers leave just 1 and we hear
of bees starving over the Winter due to running out of food. We would
rather leave extra honey on the hive versus losing a beehive by taking off too
much honey. We have not really had any significant bee lose in any of our
bee yards.
Since I retired Glenn has a bit more time and has helped a few more folks get
into beekeeping around our area. Glenn is able to teach them how to
maintain health hives without using chemicals within the hives. We are
always concerned with new beekeepers who are taught to use antibiotics and other
things in a hive versus really keeping up with the hives throughout the year.
Enjoy the honey!
Glenn and Becky Magrum
