Product Description
Customer Reviews
Raw bamboo honey in a 5 pound container. Raw honey has not been heated and simply filtered through a large mesh screen. The screen removes larger particles and allows pollen, propolis and beeswax particles to pass through it. Bamboo honey comes from the Japanese Knotweed plant which is found in 39 of the 50 states.
This plant is considered a very invasive weed. In the U.S.A. it is listed as an invasive weed in Ohio, Vermont, Virginia, New York and Washington states.
Other English names for Japanese knotweed include fleeceflower, Hancock's curse, elephant ears, pea shooters, donkey rhubarb (although it is not a rhubarb), sally rhubarb, Japanese bamboo, American bamboo, and Mexican bamboo. Japanese knotweed flowers are valued by some beekeepers as an important source of nectar for honeybees, at a time of year when little else is flowering.
Japanese knotweed yields a monofloral honey, usually called bamboo honey by northeastern U.S. beekeepers, like a mild-flavored version of buckwheat honey. This honey is a very dark honey and also has a pleasant sweet taste to it.

My Happy Place
Honey is my happy place. I'm practically obsessed with it and I love discovering new types. I discovered bamboo honey by chance and after eating it, I felt better. After researching the "bamboo" which turned out to be Japanese knotweed, I discovered it had myriad health benefits as well as being anti-inflammatory and a mild analgesic. Since then, I've been hooked. I took a chance on eBeeHoney since I knew nothing about them, but figured: why not? That was over a year ago. I am now a permanent customer. The honey arrived well-packaged, promptly, and was absolutely delicious.

Subdued delicate taste
I found the buckwheat somewhat strong to my taste, almost like molasses. This bamboo honey has a slight taste of the buckwheat similar to hint of light molasses. It has a creamy body that allows ladling into smaller jars, instead of always dealing with the 5lb. container.Realizing that everyone has different tastes,I ordered a mini jar to try,and then I purchased a 5lb.container........

Love the dark color honey. It says has more antioxidant in it. I like to have it with lots of lemon when I have cold.

Ohhhhhh, Wow!
What clever clever bees to take what is considered an invasive weed and turn it into something this delectable! The caramel-y feel and taste of this honey is like no other honey I have tasted. Although it is thick and spreadable, it also was quite nice sweetening a chai on a frosty morning. Awesome, awesome stuff!

Subtle and Woody
It took me a while to realize what bamboo honey reminds me of, and its slightly subdued sweetness and woodiness reminded me of coconut, and goes very well with cereals and nuts.

Great honey
I got the bamboo honey to make a peach vanilla mead. Right out the the container it smelled and tasted great. My mead is still fermenting but the original taste when everything was together was amazing. I can't wait to try the other types of honey with my mead.

This is really nice; I can't make up my mind whether I like the buckwheat, or this, better. Bamboo is similar to buckwheat--only quite a bit milder/lighter. I'm waiting to get inspired as to what kind of barbeque sauce I'd like to use this product in.

Absolutely Delicious!
This honey reminds me of the Holy Bible-- Proverbs 24:13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: This honey is everything it was promised to be! The whole family is enjoying it. Thank you, and thank you for the quick delivery. We are very satisfied customers and will buy all our honey from you from now on.

Yahoo for Bamboo
We recently added Bamboo honey to our list of favorite EBee Hony's. It's a wonderful alternative to our favorite Buckwheat. Almost a Buckwheat-lite if you will, a milder taste with a wonderfully sweet after taste. It's delicious with butter on my wife's fresh baked breads and biscuits. It goes great in tea's and with some warm water and a shot of Jack for a nice winters pick-me-up. All around just a good versatile honey. Mike in the Far West

Japanese Knotweed (Bamboo) Honey: Yay!
Who knew that that obnoxious weed could produce such delicious honey! With the bees’ help, of course. I expected it to be like Buckwheat Honey but milder, and instead it has a wonderful rich and mild taste of its own. To my taste-buds, it’s reminiscent of butter or butterscotch, and just fabulous.
